Soft Archive
A look into my earlier works in high school and college ( this is the painting/drawing edition )
I was at a birthday party the other night, chatting with a new friend about art and, just in general, our own work. In quickly pulling up my gallery shots of a portrait I did, she was quick to say, “Wow, you found that so quick.” One thing I hate so much is when you say, “Oh, let me show you something,” and then it takes such a long time to find the photo, and by the time you do, the conversation has already moved past it. Whether or not that even matters to the point of this bigger archive story, it made me realize how organized my photos are.
For the past 5-plus years, I’ve been slowly categorizing anything I’ve done in the arts world, no matter how big or small. It’s a mix of development, materials, and final products. I love the idea of being able to very easily see how my work has developed from high school to now, most of all the experimentation I did to get me where I am in my practice today. This is a little archive of some of my greatest hits throughout the years. Some of you may have seen some of these, and some, I know, you haven’t. I used to be really embarrassed to share my art (rightfully so at some points). I got very weird with some of the themes I focused on, particularly my Ronald McDonald era. (I truly can’t believe I even had that.)
I may turn this into a series (there’s a lot of pieces to show and a lot of stories behind them all).
So, welcome to the Soft Archive.
